Zero Water Filter Pitcher Reviews and Giveaway {2 Winners}

by Rika on April 23, 2012

Zero Water Filter Pitcher We live in San Diego and honestly I could never drink the tap water here. I would love to as I could save money from not purchasing those commercial bottled water or having an overpriced filtration system put in.  But, I just cannot take the awful taste of metal in our water.  If the taste is that prevalent, it’s obvious that it is quite bad for your health too, which has been confirmed by all of the reports we get from the water company.  From what I’ve heard, most of San Diego’s water comes from the Colorodo River which contains a heavy load of dissolved solids.  Some say that certain areas that get water from the Colorado river have nothing to worry about; and that it isn’t a health concern and only affects the taste. But who knows??  I wouldn’t put the trust of my health and the health of my family in such speculation.  So we’ve been purchasing our bottle water from the store. Not only we spend so much money per month, we totally hate that our house is fully loaded with those plastic bottles which are bad for our environment and bad for our wallet :) . Also, it’s not convenient. You have to go to the store, wasting your time and money. If you happen to remember you will buy it together with your groceries, but that’s often not the case. We often forgot to buy water until it’s out. I’ve tried some big brands to purify our water… but it did not work. The water was still tasting of metal, and had a rank smell. So I figured I’d better spend money as hydrating myself with water is a basic human need.  As everybody knows water is very important to flush toxins from our body, but if the water you’re using to do that cleansing is contaminated from the many dangerous minerals, that means you’re not doing any good to your body. You could get sick, either with symptoms you see now or longer-term.

Recently i had this opportunity to review Zero Water Filter.  Before then, let me tell you a bit about the company and what i think about them before trying their product.  The main message and even a challenge from Zero water is that ”If it’s not all zeroes it is not Zero Water!” What does that means?  Zero Water will prove to  you that their filter system will bring your water will have 0 TDS when tested. What is TDS?  It’s a measure of the combined content of all inorganic and organic substances contained in a liquid: molecular, ionized or micro-granular (colloidal sol) suspended form. To help put this in perspective, meter readings for tap water average between 075 and 300. Conventionally filtered water measures between 030 and 500, and bottled water measures between 000 and 350. Unlike the alternatives, with ZeroWater you can be sure you’ll get 100% great-tasting water that is totally healthy.  You can go to the Zero Water site and type in your zip code to find out the TDS number in you area. A TDS meter is included with our Zero Water filter so we were able to test before and after using their filter system.

TEST TIME :

Remember, you have to follow the steps properly or it may affect your TDS result. I follow through all the instructions, and checked my TDS tap water and unsurprisingly with number : 375. So before I started with purifying water, I made sure that I read all the instructions :

1. I removed the lid & water reservoir from top of pitcher and removed the filter from its packaging . I hand washed them & rinsed throughly with warm water. Be sure to clean and DRY them really well before you pour in the water, since leftover water may affect your TDS reading ( i think this is the most important thing! I forgot to dry the inside and yes,… false reading! That’s make sense!}

2. Another important thing : I twisted the filter into bottom of reservoir & tighten filter for a complete seal. REMEMBER TIGHTEN ! You do not want to drop the filter intoe the reservoir since this would alow unfiltered water pass around the filter! AGAIN : You will get a FALSE READING!

3. I used th TDS Meter and follow through all the instructions . Be sure not to pass the maximum level.

There was no TDS reading for my zip code 08520. The closest zip is 08831 and the tds is 130. Wish I could fine out what the TDS is for my zip. Must be real bad if they don’t want to check my zip.

78, not bad overall, but unknown just a mile away from me, so it could truly vary. I’d like to test for myself. This would be awesome to have and test!

Mine is 285!! I don’t drink the city water we have here. I don’t allow my dogs to drink it, or my plants! We all drink bottled water. Many plants in my house have died (previously) because of the salt levels in the water. Also, my tub has a scummy film all over it after we shower. BLEECH!!

My TDS reading is 51. After I checked. I think mine may be off a little. Our water tastes like iron/blood. I still will not let myself or my son drink our tap water. EVERY time it is turned on it streams yellow/orange for about 30 seconds!! Bottled water gets very expensive when you buy over 10 gallons a week !
